MESSAGE "Poem of Crisis" April 20, 2020

Poem of Crisis 4/20/2020
******************************
We never knew how good we had it, until it was gone
We took things for granted, oh for so long
Now everything's changed
Our lives (have been) rearranged

What once was, is now a dream
And really, what does it (all) mean
What is going to happen next
We sit around angry, (and) truly perplexed

Does anybody really know what time it is
Who can we listen to, who can we trust
What's going on, what's happening
Is (any) trust happening

People are raging, some have given up
Sick of (the) politics, all so corrupt
Churches have failed us, driven to greed
Society has cultivated a very bad seed

What is the answer, with so many dying
We watch (as) medics keep frantically trying
When will this be over / when will it end
Life seems so fragile: on (our) breath we depend

Look on the bright side, so everyone says
Think positive, get out of bed
Survival of the fittest is looming strong
(Soon) only the fittest will belong

Groping for answers, tempers explode
Groveling in public, dignity erodes
Delusion runs rampant in this sick land
Each (weary) civilian looking for a Man

What will become of us, we cry
Are we going to live, or (are we going to) die
Is there an end to this madness, this woe
Our souls have never sunken this low

Imprisoned in our houses, we wait
Some praying (a) release from this fate
What will happen, what is coming
Others escape, and hit the road running

Some are being beaten tonight by abuse
Trapped in cages, pawns being used
Each hour a new dilemma arises
Anxious unrest, then (yet) another crisis

Fury is rising, (foolish) arguments ensue
The world is afire, what will we do
(So) will only the strongest survive
Who among us will be left alive

Lost, in a collective fear-state
We (certainly) will remember this date
For (in) some time, some way
This plague will (surely) go away

**********************************

The celebrities are now at a loss
Because now a virus is their boss
No longer at the top of their game
They struggle to keep their fame

The poor among us may be the wise
For they have learned to open their eyes
They see things in a different light
They know the sadness of the night

(The) hidden ones are on alert
Hoping this (cruel) death to avert
They struggle on, in agony and pain
Crying to no one, a silent complain(t)

Is it over yet, we wonder each day
We call our friends, are you okay
(Do you) have food, can you pay your rent
Most of the bank account (has) already been spent

What's really going on
Is this an intricate con
Have we all been tricked, or what
Something is wrong, we can feel it in our gut

Suppose the answer is this
Stay calm when fear persists
Go with the flow, yet protect your life
Reassure the children, resist strife

This is written from solitude
Nothing fancy, nothing lewd
Just some ramblings of the mind
(So) many thoughts, they just unwind

One voice who has lived throught despair
Spitting (out) words, if anyone cares
Just one whisper in a noisy galaxy
Sorting out truth, from (utter) fallacy

(So) mark off another day from this wicked chapter
Who can foresee what comes after
Is there a prophet in the house
Or is that only a mouse

Does anybody know what time it is, for real
What's the skinny, what's the deal
Are we (all) sheep headed for the slaughter
Where is that saving water

The earth throws us experts galore
But most seem to just want war
Beneath (the) headlines, we wonder what's real
Sometimes it's hard, just to feel

There comes a time when you just give in
And say to the Heavens, let me in
You cry to a God that you do not know
Unleashing your soul to the celestial show

Until that time comes, you carry on bravely
Doing your best, with (your) wits wavering
Strength comes in waves, (ebbing) back and forth
Still you remain, a (hardy) weathered force

These words may sound like rubbish to you
(Maybe they do, to me too)
So express yourself as you may please
It may be even as you wheeze

Many of us question, is this the end
It's over our heads, we cannot comprehend
Tomorrow is coming, what will it bring
Will we be crying, or...will we sing
